I’m A Believer

My second attempt at live streaming aired on YouTube, Saturday 4th July 2020.

The picture quality wasn’t the best so I’ve gone back to the original HD camera footage to share one of the songs I performed on the day – a Neil Diamond song, better known as a hit for The Monkees:

Performing live in front of Albert Bridge, London on Saturday, 4th July 2020

It was No. 1 in most English speaking countries: the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, UK and Ireland, making it the best-selling single of 1967.

In 2001 it was recorded by Smash Mouth and used in the movie, “Shrek”, making it popular with a whole new generation of kids. Another version was recorded for one of the sequels, “Shrek Forever After” in 2010, this time by Weezer.

Other versions of the song to hit the UK charts include one by Robert Wyatt in 1974 – who famously became the only artist to perform on Top of the Pops in a wheelchair – and EMF with Reeves and Mortimer, who reached No.3 in 1995. Vic Reeves had previously joined forces with The Wonder Stuff in 1991 and had a No.1 hit with a cover version of “Dizzy”.
